Why does grass feed beef taste better?
The cattle get to grow slowly in a natural healthy way, so the animals benefit too. The meat ends up with wonderful marbling through out, which self bastes the meat as it cooks adding amazing flavour and texture to your dinner! There are health benefits for us too. Are your cattle outside all year round?
Yes, most of our animals are grazing outside all year round, either on grassland or strip-grazing our fodder beet fields. Which they thrive on. Some animals from marshland or clay based grazing fields, come in for 3-4 months over the wet winter period, they are fed on home produced straw, silage, haylage, some our cattle graze fodder beat over winter to maintain healthy diets.
Do you use chemicals or medication on your cattle?
We only worm every animal. Any other medication is only then provided if symptoms appear and will be treated on an individual basis, according to veterinary guidelines and animal welfare. Our herd are hormone free and antibiotic free.
How accurate are the weights and sizes?
Variations are very small and we work closely with our traditional butcher to ensure our high standard is maintained. Every animal is different which can make exact measurements difficult. If we were to produce a completely uniform product, we would produce a lot of waste, which is not what we would like to see. We always endeavour to be fair with our orders, so if part of your order comes in slightly under we will make sure is it made up on another, to ensure good value for money for you.
